Types of Asbestos
There are several types of asbestos that are known to cause mesothelioma and other cancers.

Non-Occupational Exposure to Asbestos
The wives and children of numerous workers that were exposed to asbestos in the work place have contracted cancer including mesothelioma, ovarian cancer, lung cancer, throat cancer, esophageal cancer and cancer of the intestine. Quite often the wife of a worker exposed to asbestos washes the clothes of her husband with her and her children’s clothes. Consequently, we have seen cases of mesothelioma, ovarian cancer, lung cancer, throat cancer, esophageal cancer and cancer of the intestine in women and children with no occupational exposure to asbestos.

5. Evaluation
There is sufficient evidence in humans for the carcinogenicity of all forms of asbestos (chrysotile, crocidolite, amosite, tremolite, actinolite, and anthophyllite). Asbestos causes mesothelioma and cancer of the lung, larynx, and ovary.
Also positive associations have been observed between exposure to all forms of asbestos and cancer of the pharynx, stomach, and colorectum. For cancer of the colorectum, the Working Group was evenly divided as to whether the evidence was strong enough to warrant classification as sufficient.
There is sufficient evidence in experimental animals for the carcinogenicity of all forms of asbestos (chrysotile, crocidolite, amosite, tremolite, actinolite and anthophyllite).
All forms of asbestos (chrysotile, crocidolite, amosite, tremolite, actinolite and anthophyllite) are carcinogenic to humans (Group 1)
Pleural Mesothelioma
Pleural mesothelioma occurs in the lining of the lungs and is caused by occupational exposure and through exposure to asbestos contaminated clothes that are washed with the clothes of the worker. Quite often, the children and/or the wife of the worker contract mesothelioma and other cancers due to exposure to asbestos from the fathers clothes.
Peritoneal Mesothelioma
Peritoneal mesothelioma occurs in the lining of the abdomen and is caused by occupational exposure and through exposure to asbestos contaminated clothes that are washed with the clothes of the worker. Quite often, the children and/or the wife of the worker contract mesothelioma and other cancers due to exposure to asbestos from the fathers clothes.
Other Types of Mesothelioma
Other types of mesothelioma include Testicular and Pericardial Mesothelioma. These types of mesothelioma are less common but are seen in workers exposed to asbestos and can occur through exposure to asbestos-contaminated clothes that are washed with the clothes of the worker. Quite often, the children and/or the wife of the worker contract mesothelioma and other cancers due to exposure to asbestos from the fathers clothes.
Testicular Mesothelioma / Pericardial Mesothelioma
Other Asbestos Cancers
Ovarian Cancer
Ovarian cancer occurs in the ovaries of a woman and is caused by occupational exposure and through exposure to asbestos contaminated clothes that are washed with the clothes of the worker. Quite often, the daughter or the wife of the worker contract ovarian cancer and other cancers due to exposure to asbestos from the fathers clothes.
Other Asbestos Cancers
Lung Cancer
Lung cancer is caused by occupational exposure to asbestos and through exposure to asbestos contaminated clothes that are washed with the clothes of the worker. Quite often, the children or the wife of the worker contract lung cancer and other cancers due to exposure to asbestos from the fathers clothes.
